This is the inaugural year for the KingBirders, made up of father-son duo Luke and Brock Safford, veteran birdathoner Keith Ashley, and birding newbie Andrew Fogas. We are taking off bright and early on Friday, April 14th to traverse through Madera Canyon, Patagonia, Mt. Lemmon, and the Tucson area looking for as many bird species as we can find. 100 seems very likely, 125 is doable, could 150 be in reach for this all-star crew? Kingbirds are tenacious birds for their size and aren't afraid of big challenges (i.e. Red-tailed Hawks) and we carry this same DNA.
We are doing this because we believe in the conservation work that Tucson Audubon is involved in to protect birds and their habitat. Join us by contributing either a fixed amount, or really spur us on by pledging a specific amount per bird species seen during our Birdathon day. Birds have a unique, special, and different meaning to each of us. So too is each of our connection with Tucson Audubon Society personal and distinct. During Birdathon, we combine the love of bird watching during spring migration with support for bird conservation.
Birdathoners are birders and social fundraisers, joining together to make a difference for the birds and habitats of southeast Arizona. Birdathoners continue a tradition that has held strong for 30 years!
Each Birdathoner's personal network of supporters is what helps makes Birdathon possible.
