UPDATE to the UPDATE: Read the recap of my Birdathon!
UPDATE: Wrenegade Bike Brigade Birdathon was a great success despite some challenges with the hot weather. I rode 80 miles around Tucson and up Mt Lemmon over 14 hours and found 93 bird species! (stats on the ride here: https://www.strava.com/activities/3388547355) I identified 36 species by sound only and 3 owls for a couple of my supporters who challenged me on those items. Thank you!! I also want to thank the rest of my Wrenegade team for the many updates throughout the day, it really made it seem like we were birding together like usual. Collectively we rounded up about 160 species! Next year we will be together again!
Thanks again to all my supporters—the birds of southeast Arizona are better for it! Thoughts of your generosity kept me going when the road got tough. There's still time to help me reach my goal!

Well, this Birdathon is going to be different in so many ways. Of course, the world has changed, but spring has arrived and the birds still need us, probably now more than ever. Tucson Audubon needs this more than ever in these tough times. If you feel comfortable participating this year, I would be grateful for your support. If not, I understand, but would still love for you to follow along!
The other big difference is our stalwart team, The Wrenegades, will not be able to assemble in person and dominate the 7 Seas. We are, however, going birding separately and hope to compile our sightings together into one big awesome list. It won't be the same, but it will be fun!
I have chosen to do my Birdathon by bike, like the good old days. This will probably include a ride up Mt. Lemmon and other points of interest on the east side of Tucson. True adventure!
I do hope you can support Tucson Audubon and my team this year as I try to raise $2000. Thank you and stay healthy!

Birds have a unique, special, and different meaning to each of us. So, too, is each of our connection with Tucson Audubon Society personal and distinct. During Birdathon, we combine the love of bird watching during spring migration with support for bird conservation.
Birdathoners are birders and social fundraisers, joining together to make a difference for the birds and habitats of Southeast Arizona. Birdathoners continue a tradition that has held strong for over 30 years!
Each Birdathoner's personal network of supporters is what helps makes Birdathon possible.
