This year, April 7 to May 7, Robin Kaminsky and Keith Ashley are taking a crash course in learning to identify every living thing found in their home patches: Redondo Beach, CA, and Tucson, AZ. We will each be identifying and cataloguing every bug, bush, reptile, furry critter, and yes, of course, every bird! You can keep up with our efforts at the Bird in Place BIOBLITZ blog (say that three times real fast) found at: https://birdathonbioblitz.weebly.com/

Dear Friends and Family--

Today is the last day of Birdathon, and Robin and I are announcing our current BIOBLITZ total of 249 species. That's birds, native plants, non-native plants, food plants, animals, insects, and reptiles ... everything we could spot and identify in our yards in Tucson, AZ and Redondo, CA this last month.

Check in this time next year, and maybe we will actually be closer to the finish line. There's a lot more out there than you might expect -- and lots of those living things are trickier to identify than you might think.

Our combined total for birds, obviously of particular interest to Birdathon, was 52 (and that's only counting species once that we saw in both our yards....)

You can read the breakdown of our total, see our bird list, view some photos, and read a few blog posts here:  https://birdathonbioblitz.weebly.com/

Thank you very much if you were able to give this year!!  We truly appreciate this support for Tucson Audubon. If you haven't given yet and would still like to, you can make a contribution here.

And, by the way, we are going to keep our blog going as we continue to identify species, so feel free to check in from time to time and see what we're up to!

Virtual hugs and smiles,

Keith

ABOUT Birdathon 2020

..DONATE (PAY NOW)..          ..PLEDGE (PAY LATER)..

Birds have a unique, special, and different meaning to each of us. So, too, is each of our connection with Tucson Audubon Society personal and distinct. During Birdathon, we combine the love of bird watching during spring migration with support for bird conservation.

Birdathoners are birders and social fundraisers, joining together to make a difference for the birds and habitats of Southeast Arizona. Birdathoners continue a tradition that has held strong for over 30 years!

Each Birdathoner's personal network of supporters is what helps makes Birdathon possible.
