These are very unusual times we are living in, and so for the very 1^st time, Tom Brown is going it alone for this year’s Birdathon.  As most of you know by now, all things “Bird” has a very special in place in my heart. One of the most important organizations that promote, preserve and restore birds and their habitat is the Tucson Audubon Society. A Birdathon is just like that good old Walkathon, where in an effort to support an organization, you make a pledge based on the number of miles, laps or a specific items accomplished. In this case it is the number of bird species seen in one day! This event is one of the biggest fund raisers for Tucson Audubon, and with so many other events being canceled, it makes this one that much more important!  The twist I am throwing in will not be how many birds I actually see, but can photograph in that same period. I will be starting early, at first daylight, and working my way thru as many of my favorite SE Arizona and Tucson “Hot Spots” as possible. As we get closer to the appointed day, which is April 22^nd, by the way, I will send all of you my anticipated route that day. Please know that no amount is too small, it will all add up in the end. You can also donate a fixed amount, if you are concerned about me going crazy and getting a huge number of species!! By the way, my target number in that regard is 75 species. But wait, there’s more…Here is the final kicker!!  For the person donating the highest amount, either by pledge or donation I will present them with a signed, framed print of the bird of their choice from that day!

UPDATE !@@!    Due to the amazing response, I am giving away a second Signed, framed photograph from the birds that I capture during the April 22nd Birdathon. This second photograph will be given by raffle, with each person getting one raffle ticket for each $10.00 they donate, or end up giving via the pledges! That way everyone gets a chance at a photograph of a bird of their choice from the day of the Birdathon!
